Several days ago, I tried to cut and paste my "favorites folder" to my desktop. However, the folder did not appear on the desktop but disappear. Look in the Recycle Bin, but not in there. Is there a way to recover it?

Just create a new temporary user profile (or use an existing separate profile) and copy a working Links folder over to your profile.

Hi, try this way:
1. Open file explorer and click on This PC.
2. Go to the View tab and select the Options dropdown.
3. Select Change folder and search options from the dropdown.
4. Click on the check box for Show Favorites in the Navigation pane

Return to Windows 8
